Blue Peel

blue peel is a procedure that is highly effective in reducing the effects of mild wrinkles and removing unwanted dead skin from the surface of your face thereby vitalizing your skin.  Like all chemical peels, blue peel is a mild / medium chemical peel; the primary chemical content in this peel is Trichloroacetic acid commonly known as TCA.

The name blue peel is derived from the color of the compound that is used for the application.  The color is an inbuilt safety device or a safety condition that needs to observed during the application process.  As with any chemical peels there is a risk factor that is associated with burning of the skin.  Any chemical compound when applied in excessive layers can cause burning of the skin.   In a blue peel compound, as the compound is laid on the skin the color keeps changing indicating where and when the technician who is applying the compound should stop and start removing the peel.

The only disadvantage with blue peel is that, blue peel does not remove heavy wrinkles and crow’s feet around the eyes.  The best way to get the maximum out of a blue peel is to carry out a blue peel once again after duration of six months. This is a blue peel repeat peelFine lines are removed by this process of blue peel.  If the process of a blue peel is combined with other surgical procedures, then what you get is an entirely new you.

As with medium chemical peels, blue peel also causes the skin to flake.  This takes place generally after four or five days of application of the blue peel.  The skin will also have a blue tinge but eventually this will go and the skin flaking will stop.  Do not expose yourself to harsh sunlight following a blue peel.  This is likely to cause irreparable damage to the skin.

The blue peel is so effective in enhancing the features of your face that it is called a non surgical face lift.  It being a non-surgical face lift most people query if the blue face peel can be done by oneself at his home. The answer is “NO”; blue peel is a chemical peel and needs to be done under medical supervision.  If there happens to an emergency, you cannot deal with it and need to be rushed to a medical center immediately.

There have been variations in the different types of blue peel that is available in the market.  One of the most popular one’s is the Obagi Blue peel.  The chemical compound that is used to apply here is a minor variation of the original blue peel. The mixture has been specially formulated by a renowned dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi.  However the main compound Trichloroacetic acid is the primary ingredient.
