Breast Augmention ProcedureAs modern women are becoming more conscious of her looks, breast augmentation surgery is becoming more popular by the day. There was a time when only the rich and the famous would opt for breast augmentation surgical procedure. But now days it is not so and according to the information available on breast augmentation surgery, even middle aged women and middle class housewives are going for breast augmentation surgery. Women irrespective of their age or social status want to go for different types of breast augmentation. In a breast implant surgery, the breast augmentation procedure lasts for about one or two hours and is performed as an outpatient surgery. The woman doesn’t have to stay overnight in the hospital as in the case of inpatient surgeries. Breast implant procedure is done in the surgical suite, surgery center or the hospital surgery room. A lot depends on the surgeon and the breast augmentation techniques that your surgeon has chosen. While doing breast augmentation procedure the surgeon makes a short incision in a place where it is not visible easily. In order to get the job done with minimum possible incision, the surgeon inserts an empty implant and then fills it up saline. It is advisable to discuss with the surgeon the various incision sites that he/she may recommend. He usually does it under the bust line (inframammary) or the areola of the nipples (peri areolar) or the underarms (axilliary). However if the surgeon decides to make an underarm incision he may have to use a probe which is fitted with a small camera and may also use other instruments which are minimally invasive, i. e. very small incision to create a space for the implant. The scar fades away with time. He then makes space within the breast tissues for placing the implant. According to the prevailing breast augmentation procedure there are two types of breast implant. The first is a rubber shell. It is solid silicone which is implanted under the breasts, above the chest wall. The shell inserted is hollow and it is then filled up with sterile salt water (or a saline solution) or with elastic silicone gel. These fillings are approved by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration.). The incision is then stitched up and may be taped also. General anesthesia is used in most of the cases but at times local anesthesia may also be used. The plastic surgeon decides the best filling for you keeping in mind various factors like your body type, breast anatomy, what is the increase in size you want. There are various types of implants and there are many options available for you. This is the breast augmentation procedures followed by most surgeons according to in the available information on breast augmentation procedures. |
