After the ice packs some surgeons ask you to keep warm (not hot) packs till the swelling and bruising is almost gone. You may prepare a pea pack or an alcohol and water mix pack. You may vary the proportion of water according to your choice of stiffness. During your breast implant recovery you must pay special attention to keeping the incision dry. The surgeon generally places sterile strips on the incision and you must take care that apart from water, even cream, lotion etc doesn’t get into the incision. It may lead to inflammation during your breast augmentation and recovery period. You must remember to take your body temperature at regular intervals. If there is any rise in it, it may point out to an infection. During the first week of breast augmentation recovery you may even have to visit your surgeon for removing the gauze dressings. After seven or ten days the stitches may be cut. Many surgeons provide an especially designed surgical bra to their patients. These bras make the breast tissues stronger and keep the implants in place. However it takes up to three to five weeks for the swelling to subside completely and the scars are permanent. But over all it takes up to a year of recovery time after breast augmentation for the transplant to settle into a fixed place. |
