Hence the surgeon has to make a larger incision for it. In case of saline implant he can make a small incision and insert the hollow shell but in the case of silicone implant the incisions is bigger. The shells are textured and this lead to larger incisions. It varies with the size of the implant too. The silicone which is used for filling now days is very different from what was available earlier. Earlier, silicones were stiff and hard but nowadays you get a soft feeling silicone gel. The gel in the implant is covered by three layers of shell to prevent any Silicone breast implant rupture. The earlier ones had ultra thick shells which tend to rupture and there were cases of Silicone breast implant leak. If there was a ruptured silicone breast implant then the women would have to go for revision surgery or may even have to permanently opt for Silicone breast implant removal. |
