Breast Reduction Procedures

Breast reduction techniques vary, but the most common breast reduction procedure involves an anchor shaped incision circling the areola, extending downwards, and following the natural curve of the crease beneath each breast. Such a breast reduction surgery technique is called mammoplasty. It reduces lifts and reshapes the breasts. It can also shrink the size covered by the areola which is the dark skin surrounding the nipple. Some women opt for breast reduction surgical procedures to alleviate painful discomfort like back pain, rashes, shoulder pressure, skin tags, etc while others undergo the scalpel to improve the appearance and looks of their breasts.
There are many types of breast reduction surgeries. In one such technique, the surgeon is required to remove excess glandular tissue, skin and fat, and relocate the nipple and areola into a new position. Then skin from both sides of the breast is brought down and around the areola, thus giving a new shape to the new contour of the breast. Another procedure of breast reduction is Liposuction. Scars are an inevitable part of all surgeries. However in some cases, breast reduction techniques can be used to eliminate the vertical part of the scar while liposuction is a breast reduction technique that can be used to reduce breast size by removing only fat and leaving minimal scars.

Another breast procedure reduction is lollipop breast reduction procedure. It lifts and reduces the breast without those scars leaving horizontal incisions, of the anchor technique. In lollipop procedure breast reduction, instead of disposing the tissues they are used to augment the saggy breasts. Another advantage of the lollipop incision is that it has a long-lasting effect since the breast tissue is reconstructed in a conical shape. The inverted T-incision holds on the breast shape since only the skin envelope is changed. With time, the skin stretches out and that shape is lost. The surgery does not take more than three and a half to four hours. Fine sutures are used to seal off the incision and drains are positioned around breasts to remove any excess fluid discharge that may take place over the next few days. After surgery, the breasts are wrapped in a sterile compression dressing, and a surgical bra is placed.
Standard breast reduction techniques have always employed incisions around the areola, down and across the fold under the breast. This leaves ugly, extensive and unpredictable scars. The LeJeour breast reduction technique, named after the European surgeon who developed this procedure, is a significant advance. The incisions are so placed that there are no visible scars. It gives us the liberty to achieve a better shape that we desire while completely eliminating even the largest scar.In fact there are no scars even in the fold underneath the breast since the only incisions in this procedure are around the areola and down. Breast reduction surgery can now be done on an outpatient basis in about an hour and is hence gaining popularity by the day.
