The possible complications that are a result of chemical peeling are evident only after a chemical peel. Complications like permanent color change may occur with or without scarring.

The limitations of a chemical peel are chemical peels cannot remove loose skin or skin that is sagging. The same stands for scars that are quite deep.  Chemical peeling of the face will not cause changes in the size of the pores of the skin.
