Eye surgeries

Eye surgery is but a common term to denote a surgery to the eyes or in the eyes.    However there are specifics that denote different types of surgery to the eyes.  Broadly and generally speaking, the different types of eye surgeries are laser eye surgery, glaucoma surgery, comeal surgery, muscular eye surgery, Orbital surgery, refractive surgery, Vitreo retinal surgery and the most common form, cataract surgery.

Laser eye surgery is a growing technique with gaining popularity.   The reason to this being, surgery done with the help of laser to correct vision is one of the most sterile surgeries and precise surgeries due to the use of laser by itself.  As with all surgeries, there have been casualties that have resulted in loss of vision but the success rate in laser eye surgeries is more than 90%.

Corrective eye surgery also known as refractive eye surgery is used to correct refraction of the eye.  Another very popular eye surgery is the LASIK eye surgery.  This is known as Laser assisted in-situ Keratomileusis.  LASIK eye surgery is done to correct the refractory errors of the eye.  LASIK eye surgery can be done to correct errors like near sightedness, far sightedness and astigmatism.  The procedure is by far the fastest among surgeries.  It takes less then a minute to carryout the actual surgery.

LASIK eye surgery consists of cutting flaps or eyelets with the help of laser on the cornea to correct the vision related problems.  Developed in the year 1990, this has undergone different stages of modification to achieve perfection in the technique.

Eye surgeries are also done for cosmetic reasons.  Among them the most common being correction of the muscles of the eyes to remove that drooping eye look.  The other procedures that are done on the eyes and around the eyes are Botox injections, endoscopic fore head and a brow lift.  There are also cosmetic surgeries done to the eyes to alter the shape of the eye and also the color of the eyes permanently.

To get a fully rejuvenated face, one should go in for muscular strengthening of the eye lids, botox injections (though temporary), and if possible a liposuction of the jowl. This will give a person a fully different look.  This kind of operation is called a cosmetic eye surgery.

Cataract is a layer of film mostly opaque forming over the cornea of the eye.  Excess formation of the cataract layer can cause loss of vision.  Surgery is done to remove the cataract and this is called cataract eye surgery.  With the improvement in surgical procedures the use of lasers for carrying out cataract operations is not far off.  If the cataract has affected the lens, then surgery is done to remove the lens and replacement is done with the help of plastic lens.  These lenses are called plastic intraocular lenses.

Summary:
With the different types of eye surgeries that are taking place as on date, the world will step into a phase where loss of vision is never heard off and so will be wearing of spectacles except for the fancy of wearing it.
