Feather Facelift

The Feather facelift procedure is an innovative procedure that induces a noticeable change in facial appearance. It is a minimum invasive practice that has been used since a long time in wide styles. It is a contour boosting method that uses radically new sutures which work as micro-ligaments to grip the lax skin of the mid-face and chin in proper place, thus resulting in a younger without any lifting or deflation of the skin. In the feather face lift procedure, the micro-threads that are positioned in the skin with a needle act by clutching the tissues with a sequence of small mechanism or micro-barbs, thus the practice is also called thread face lift. The tiny micro-barbs are tied to hold the surface beneath the skin. This allows the skin to be stretched and lifted without requiring the procedure of traditional facelift. These micro-ligaments are  fixed firmly to the skin beneath the temporal scalp area that bears hair. After some time, the skin contracts in the region of these sutures resulting in a younger and firm look.  The procedure is generally known as non-surgical facelift but the surgery is negligible. The procedure can be simply carried out in the office setting with only normal pain killer medication and thus is commonly called lunch hour face lift. The micro-threads are inserted via small incision in the hairy region over the ear with the channel of a threadlike needle via the skin undersurface. Normally around three to seven sutures are placed on each half of the face to regulate the lax skin suitably.         
 It is basically non-surgical as there is no wounding of the skin or removal of the skin and the tiny opening in hairy area is closed with dissolvable sutures. The substance used for micro-sutures has an outstanding security profile. While touching the skin, these microscopic barbs that make the sutures cannot be sensed. After the feather facelift procedure is completed, a small tape is placed on the face for two days.
During recovery, the patients are advised not to sleep on face side for at least 8-10 days. In this procedure, the results of these small sutures are straight away visible but the final results are visible 5-7 months when the skin shrinks round the sutures. The Feather facelift is the best option for patients with mild to medium skin laxity and who expect a perceptible change with no invasive surgery. The Feather facelift has shown excellent results but still it is not as good as a complete face lift procedure.            
After the procedure, some patients typically feel slight uneasiness in smiling for 10-15 days. For slight discomfort, the patients can take analgesics and they can go back to work in 48 hours as the tape can now be removed. There are minute holes in the skin from the placing of the needle but these heal unnoticeably. The threads used in feather facelift are made of a monofilament material called polypropylene. The threads are premeditated with directional cogs. The threads make a support structure for the face when they are placed in the skin. The main advantage is even congregation and even lifting of the soft tissues of the face for a novel volumetric shape of the face.
