Arms LiposuctionLiposuction is a plastic surgery procedure that is associated with removal of fatty tissues from the body. This procedure can be done for most parts of the body and is highly effective too. However, people prefer to carryout liposuction of the abdomen and the thighs most as these are the area that are most exposed when wearing a short dress or when you are on the beach. Liposuction of the arms is done rarely as this is a part of the body that is being used continuously and less fatty tissues build up there. Even if fatty tissues do build up there it can be easily removed by carrying out a few arm exercises on a daily basis. There are some people who suffer from medical conditions and fatty tissues do build up in the arms for them. There are others who develop fatty tissues in the arms due to ageing. For them liposuction of the arms or an upper arm liposuction is the best advised procedure provided they have no other medical complications. Liposuction of the arms is done in a similar way to liposuction being done on any other part of the body. This being a member of the body and not the main body itself, the surgeon can go in for local anesthesia. If the patient is of the nervous sort of feeling queasy, then it is advised that the surgeon should not let the patient watch but render him unconscious by giving him a sedative. The sedative may be fed through the IV line or orally to put him / her to rest. After sedation, incisions are made on the skin through which a cannula is inserted. The incisions are typically 1/3 of an inch and in most cases do not require sutures after the procedure. Depending on the type of procedure that the patient has agreed upon with the surgeon, the doctor may go in for dry liposuction or wet liposuction. In the tumescent technique, fluid is pumped in through the cannula and the cannula is slowly agitated thereby loosening up the fatty tissues. After a waiting period of an hour or so, the fluid is drained through the cannula with the help of an aspirator. An arm liposuction does not require the patient to stay back in the clinic overnight unless he / she have been administered with general anesthesia. After arm liposuction, the patient is asked to wear an arm binder or a bandage for a couple of weeks. This is to contain any swelling. Medication like painkillers may be prescribed to make him / her comfortable. After a couple of months the patient may see the difference or the effects of the upper arm liposuction. Summary: |
