Liposuction Complications and Risk FactorsAs with all surgical procedures, liposuction has its own complications and risk factors. To eliminate risk factors is an impossible task; one can only minimize the risk factors that are associated with liposuction. First to cover what is liposuction; this is a medical procedure, which is associated with plastic surgery for removal of fat from the body. For doing this procedure there are different methods, they are dry liposuction, wet liposuction, super wet liposuction, tumescent liposuction, power assisted liposuction, and ultrasound assisted liposuction. In the ultrasound assisted liposuction procedure there are two classifications, one being you can provide ultrasound from the outside and the other being you can provide ultrasound from the inside of the body. Both of these have their own benefits and disadvantages. The possible risk of liposuction that one faces when carrying out a liposuction by the ultrasound method is there may be injuries related to burning of the skin due to the ultrasound. This is so when using ultrasound form outside the body. When using ultrasound from inside the pizo electric crystal that produces the ultrasound is mounted on the cannula and this in turn is inserted into the area of the fatty tissues. Due to this one has to go in for larger incisions to insert the cannula into the body. Other dangers due to liposuction include clotting of the blood. If a person is habituated to smoking he / she face more a risk of blood clotting. The same goes for consumption of alcohol. A person who has taken alcohol on a regular basis is more likely to face blood clots after a liposuction procedure. As with a normal surgery, if a person is allergic to anesthesia then the same will cause complications here too. A person should first undergo a test dosage to check for allergy to anesthesia. This is another danger of liposuction. The incision that is caused due to the insertion of the cannula is likely to get infected. To avoid this patient is under a dosage of antibiotics for quite some time after the surgical procedure. This is another liposuction complication. The most common damage that has taken place in the hands of an amateur doctor is the damage to organs due to the movement of the cannula. This risk has been eliminated with the introduction of the ultrasound-assisted liposuction. During this process there is no requirement to move the cannula around to agitate the fatty tissues. This work is done by the ultrasound that is transmitted into the tissues and the surrounding area. This reduced the risk of liposuction. Too much of anything is dangerous; the same stands good for liposuction procedures too. There are people who just get addicted to surgical procedures that they keep coming back for more. Multiple liposuction procedures may result in the skin looking lumpy and distorted. During the course of the procedure the body is loosing fluids, these needs to be adequately compensated. For this one needs to feed in an IV line to stabilize the body. IF this is not done the body is likely to go into shock followed by seizures. This is the highest risk associated to liposuction.
