Face Liposuction

Liposuction procedure involves removal of fat from the body.   This is done surgically and this is classified under plastic surgery.   After a Liposuction the body is contoured to be pleasant.  The same can be done with the face too.  There are a number of people who have double chins, a hanging jowl or bigger than required cheeks.  This may be a hereditary factor or may have caused due to binging on food uncontrollably.  Whatever the cause, it is not easy to remove fat from these areas.  Any amount of exercises is not going to remove fat from the chin or the neck region.  This is where one needs to make use of liposuctionLiposuction can be used to remove fat effectively from these regions.  Liposuction of the face includes neck liposuction, chin liposuction and cheek liposuction

In the case of younger people with the condition of a double chin and hanging jowls, if a liposuction is carried out on them then it would be highly effective.  This is because the skin is elastic and is able to recover from the surgery.  This is called the double chin liposuction

When carrying out liposuction for older patients on the face, it would be effective only if a face lift is also done along with the liposuction procedure.  They could also go in for a face tuck.  This is required because, the elasticity of the skin of older patients is lost and one has to restore to alternative procedures for tightening the skin.  If this tightening of the skin is not done, after a face liposuction, the skin hangs from the face and this gives one a pretty bad look.

As with all liposuction procedures, there are some precautions that need to be followed before and after the procedure. One should stop smoking a minimum of six months before the operation and should continue to do so for another two months after the operation.  This reduces the chance of blood clots taking place during the procedure and after the procedure thereby avoiding one of the most serious complications related to liposuction.  The same goes for consumption of alcohol.  If a patient is being treated for a heart condition and is taking certain anti-coagulant pills, he / she should discontinue the pills at least two weeks prior to the operation.

People with diabetics are counseled against undergoing liposuction procedure.  The chance of infection is quite high and if an infection does occur it will be very difficult for the patient to recover.

There is a general belief that liposuction of the face cannot be done separately, but needs to be combined with liposuction of the bodyFacial liposuction is done to correct the condition of the face alone and this may or may not include neck liposuction and liposuction of the back neck.
