Before and After Microdermabrasion

Before going for any surgery or treatment it is very important for an individual to know about the before and after effects, and the result of it. After knowing the full procedure it becomes easier for the patient to decide whether to go for the surgery or not. Similarly before going for microdermabrasion, the patient should know about the before and after effects of microdermabrasion treatment and the results of microdermabrasion treatment.

Microdermabrasion results largely depend upon the condition of the patient before coming for treatment. First of all the patient should be in good physical condition. This is particularly important as good health means good blood circulation which enhances the results from microdermabrasion. Secondly, the patient should be psychologically stable so that the individual should not expect more than can be delivered as microdermabrasion results. The patient should be well informed before microdermabrasion treatment so that unnecessary disputes regarding fulfillment of expectations does not arise. This helps the patient to have a realistic expectation of before and after microdermabrasion results. Before microdermabrasion treatment the patient should stop smoking. After microdermabrasion the skin may fill little itchy and may also develop reddish color. But there is nothing to worry about as this reddish color goes off within a few hours. Results form microdermabrasion can be seen after a few hours when your skin has been re-hydrated with the help of moisturizing creams and lotions. Till then the skin may feel dry as an after-effect of microdermabrasion. It is advised that a good moisturizing cream and sun screen lotion is to be used to protect your skin immediately after microdermabrasion before going out to the sun. The results of microdermabrasion are most of the time subtle giving a very smooth texture skin. To get good results from microdermabrasion multiple sittings of microdermabrasion should be opted for. Many times after the treatment the results of microdermabrasion cannot be seen immediately and the skin feels raw. This result of microdermabrasion is due to the nature of the particular skin. So though all skin types can use microdermabrasion the results from microdermabrasion varies. Thus, every individual may not be happy with microdermabrasion results. After microdermabrasion the patient should not go out to direct sun light for at least a week. This is because after microdermabrasion the skin becomes week and gets prone to wind burns and sun burns. To get better results of microdermabrasion patients should not use other exfoliant like glycolic acid and alpha hydroxyl acid for the next three days. They should also avoid the use of liquid foundation and compressed powder for next 24 hours following the treatment to get better results of microdermabrasion. Lipsticks and mascara may be used soon after microdermabrasion treatment.

The results of multiple microdermabrasions are quite dramatic as it increases the radiance of the skin. The proper results of microdermabrasion can be obtained only after multiple sittings. But the sad part of the treatment is the results of microdermabrasion are not so permanent as compared to its counter parts like chemical peel, laser abrasion etc.

Summary
The results of microdermabrasion can be seen immediately after the treatment. The skin after microdermabrasion has more radiance but becomes prone to sun burns. So after microdermabrasion proper care is to be taken of the skin by applying moisturizers and sun screen lotions.
