Abdominoplasty Before and AfterAbdominoplasty plastic surgery involves removal of excess fat from the body (abdomen) by the means of surgery and this is generally done as a combination of Abdominoplasty and liposuction. Liposuction is the method of draining body fluid / fat from the parts of the body where unnecessary fat has accumulated. There is another procedure called the mini tummy tuck where the excess skin is tightened and can be done in combination with liposuction. There are certain precautions that need to be followed before and after a tummy tuck operation / Abdominoplasty. First and foremost is the smoking part, one should quit smoking at least two months before getting an Abdominoplasty done. He / she should not restart smoking for a period of six weeks after the Abdominoplasty procedure and this increases the chances for post operative complications. Before the Abdominoplasty one should try to be realistic about what one would achieve after the Abdominoplasty operation. For this intensive counseling needs to be carried out with your doctor; and if the doctor has got the software, then he / she can show you what you would like after an Abdominoplasty operation on his computer. After a tummy tuck operation there is a chance that you might suffer from a blood clot. To avoid this you should move around as soon as possible to avoid blood clots. This is another serious form of post operative complication that could result from after tummy tuck. After a tummy tucks operation you may have to wear very comfortable abdominal binders. They are worn in place to prevent swelling of your muscles at once after an Abdominoplasty and liposuction. If you have had a liposuction along with the tummy tuck procedure, there may be small open wounds through which fluids may drain for a day or so. After a couple of days the doctor may place some healing adhesive tape to assist in healing of your wound. Post liposuction there is likely to be some discomfort and swelling. This will go away with time. Most people have turned to Abdominoplasty as they found that exercises did not remove the excess fat or tighten that sagging skin. But then Abdominoplasty is not to be restored to in case of again gaining weight. After the required rest period (post Abdominoplasty) you should go in back for exercises to maintain what shape you have gained through Abdominoplasty. This should be followed up by a strict diet regime to control excess fat and putting on body weight otherwise you are likely to gain excessive weight after an Abdominoplasty. The scars post Abdominoplasty is also minimal, it can be easily hidden by your underwear and with the passage of time this scar too will disappear. Summary: |
